Every child has a story

Behind every statistic is a child with dreams, challenges, and the potential to change their community. These are their stories of resilience, hope, and transformation.

Beatrice

Oterit Village, Baringo County

Beatrice, 21

If you educate a girl, you educate the whole nation. We are agents of change.

My name is Beatrice Jelagat Korir. I was born in 2003 in a small village called Oterit. I am the fifth born in a family of six children (five boys and 1 girl) of my mother Caroline Chepkorir and my father John Kiplagat.

Purity

Molo-Sirwe, Baringo County

Purity, 22

Thrilled to see such significant milestones. Education changed my destiny.

Purity Chepyegon Jebogogo is a young lady from Baringo, in her third and last year of college pursuing a nursing course. This might sound huge and exciting, but it has been achieved through a lot of struggles, sacrifices and pain, through courage, determination, resilience and will from Purity.

Ascar

Baringo County

Ascar, 18

The horizon is glowing. I will become a nurse to care for others facing medical challenges.

At just 15 years old, a girl from Baringo, Kenya, while in Form One, Ascar's life took a dramatic turn - she became pregnant. The news placed her at high risk of dropping out of school. Rejected by both her parents and the child's father, she found herself with nowhere to go and no one to turn to. By 16, she gave birth to a baby boy, moving between her parents' home and her boyfriend's place, where she was unwelcome in both.
